Socially responsible investing (SRI) is an investment strategy seeking to consider both financial return and social good when making investment choices.  In the 1970s, SRI was used to help force an end to apartheid in South Africa. Since the 1990s, SRI has been used to address environmental concerns including climate change, as well as other social impacts such as social justice and human rights. One report says that as of year-end 2015, more than one out of every five dollars under professional management in the US was invested according to SRI strategies.

Tyler Mainquist, NE Sierra Club Board Member and professional financial advisor, will give us a brief overview of SRI, and provide an update on socially responsible investing principles and practices that will help audience members in making their financial investment decisions.

This program is free and open to the public. Refreshments provided.
